About

Dr. Adrian Whitmore.

Plastic surgeon. Quiet perfectionist. Honest counselor.

Biography

A career built on restraint.

"My job is to help patients look like the most rested, most poised version of themselves — not someone else."

Dr. Adrian Whitmore is a board-certified plastic surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He completed his undergraduate studies at Yale, his medical degree at Johns Hopkins, and his plastic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as chief resident in his final year.

Following residency, Dr. Whitmore completed a competitive fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, training under several of the surgeons who pioneered the deep-plane facelift and modern rhinoplasty technique.

He opened Whitmore Plastic Surgery in Raleigh in 2011 with the intent of running a small, focused practice — one that prioritizes time with patients over volume of cases. He performs every operation personally, and limits the practice to a small number of surgeries per week.

Dr. Whitmore lives in the Five Points neighborhood with his wife, a literature professor, and their two children. Outside the practice he is an amateur cellist and a quietly devoted runner.

Philosophy

Three principles guide every consultation.

01

Listen first.

A consultation is a conversation, not a sales pitch. Most patients arrive with one concern but leave with a clearer understanding of three. We won't rush.

02

Recommend what fits.

Surgical recommendations are tailored to your goals, not a menu. If a non-surgical option will get you most of the way there, we'll say so. If a different specialist — a microsurgical reconstruction team, a colleague with deeper experience in a specific procedure — is a better fit, we'll tell you that too, and help you get there.

03

Aim for invisible.

The aesthetic we are known for is one nobody can quite name. You should look like you slept well, took a vacation, finally hydrated. Not like you had work done.
